Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong tested positive for COVID-19 through a polymerase chain reaction-based nucleic acid test, his office announced today.
He is undergoing isolation in accordance with the Centre for Health Protection’s guidelines.
Mr Wong, who has no recent travel history, last went to work yesterday. He wore masks and followed disease prevention measures at work, including conducting COVID-19 rapid antigen tests (RATs) regularly.
His wife, Commissioner for Labour May Chan, will undergo home quarantine in accordance with the centre’s guidelines.
She has conducted RATs regularly with negative results obtained, as is the case today.
The Deputy Financial Secretary’s office will carry out thorough cleaning and disinfection at the office concerned.
