83 COMPANIES COMMENDED

Eighty-three local companies were commended at the 2021-22 Hong Kong Awards for Industries presentation ceremony today.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki said the Government will strengthen efforts to foster re-industrialisation and support Hong Kong's industries to develop advanced manufacturing with new technologies.

Mr Chan noted that in addition to the formation of a Research, Academic & Industry Sectors One-plus Scheme to drive the commercialisation of research and development outcomes, the post of Commissioner for Industry will be created to steer re-industrialisation strategies and help manufacturing enterprises upgrade and transform themselves through innovation and technology.

He added that the Talents Service Unit he leads will compete for talent from the Mainland and overseas, while the Financial Secretary will lead the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises to focus on fields like advanced manufacturing and health technology.

The Grand Award winners were Curie Ltd (innovation and creativity), Geek Plus International (technological achievement), Karrie International (upgrading and transformation), Solos Technology (consumer product design) and L K Technology (equipment and machinery design).

A total of 204 entries were received in the awards.

The award scheme recognises the outstanding achievements of Hong Kong enterprises in pursuit of advanced technology and high value-added activities.
