FS to visit Hangzhou, Suzhou

Financial Secretary Paul Chan will depart on a visit to Hangzhou and Suzhou tomorrow, and will return to Hong Kong on April 19.

During the visit, he will tour innovation and technology enterprises engaged in artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, biotechnology, new energy and new materials, and will meet representatives of local enterprises and Hong Kong people living in the two cities.

Mr Chan will also meet the leadership of the cities to explore opportunities for closer co-operation between Hong Kong and both places, and to jointly foster the development of new quality productive forces and accelerate high-quality development.

In Hangzhou, he will deliver a keynote speech at a seminar co-organised by Invest Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Shanghai on the ways Hong Kong can enable Mainland enterprises to develop international businesses, particularly by serving as headquarters for international firms and a centre for managing their international supply chains.

During Mr Chan’s absence, Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong will be Acting Secretary.
