Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung today visited Ambassador for Cultural Promotion Xu Bing's art exhibition at the Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy.

He also met Hong Kong artists who are exhibiting their artworks in Venice, as well as local cultural and artistic partners in Italy, to exchange views on cultural matters.

The Venice Biennale is a prestigious contemporary art event that Hong Kong has been participating in since 2001.

Mr Yeung officiated at the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong exhibition at the Venice Biennale yesterday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Yeung said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government supports the development of arts and culture and is committed to helping cultural institutions and artists go global.

He highlighted that the Venice Biennale is an important channel to tell good stories of Hong Kong, and to attract a global audience to boost the city’s economy.

This year, Hong Kong artist Trevor Yeung is presenting 11 new artworks in his solo exhibition, "Trevor Yeung: Courtyard of Attachments, Hong Kong in Venice". Four of these are specific to the venue at Venice and have been created in response to the architecture of the exhibition venue.

As part of his itinerary, Mr Yeung also visited the Chinese Pavilion, the Macau exhibition, and pavilions presented by other regions.
