The CareerConnect Expo will be held on May 7 and 8 in the Convention & Exhibition Centre concurrently with the Global Talent Summit · Hong Kong, offering quality job information and tailored solutions for settling in the city.

Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) welcomes talent who are interested in coming to Hong Kong or have recently arrived in the city, stakeholders in various sectors who are concerned about talent development, non-local university students and the public to visit the expo.

HKTE Director Anthony Lau explained that the expo is being held in tandem with the summit to enable international, local and regional strategic enterprises and counterparts to present to participants and global talent the opportunities of Hong Kong and the Mainland in addition to development prospects of various sectors.

HKTE will stage an exhibition area at the expo to promote Hong Kong’s unique advantages and development opportunities, various talent admission schemes as well as HKTE's support services, coupled with experience sharing by incoming talent on settling in the city.

Guangdong Province and the Macau Special Administrative Region will also introduce the latest manpower developments and opportunities of the Greater Bay Area at their booths.

At HKTE's press conference today, some incoming talent were invited to share their experience, including Robert Lay, who successfully applied for the Top Talent Pass Scheme and will be attending the expo. He relocated to Hong Kong from New Zealand with his family in mid-2023.

Mr Lay now works at a global real estate services firm and is responsible for their Greater China operations, while his wife is employed by an asset management company. They had considered Singapore, but ultimately chose to settle in Hong Kong.

He said he was attracted to Hong Kong as an international city, while his children could also go to school and learn in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

“Hong Kong, from a capital market standpoint, has got access to Greater China and it is the key bridgeway to other Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (member economies) as well. It is a clear advantage for us to be here instead of Singapore.”

It is anticipated that the expo will bring together nearly 100 public and private organisations as exhibitors, including HKTE partners covering employment, accommodation, social and community networking, integrated settlement services, education, banking and finance, business and corporate services as well as telecommunications.

The Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises, Invest Hong Kong, the Independent Commission Against Corruption, the Information Services Department, the Airport Authority, the Cyberport Management Company, the Hong Kong Productivity Council, the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation, the Mass Transit Railway Corporation and the Hospital Authority will also take part in the expo.

The event will be held from 10am to 5.30pm with free admission. Visitors may register online in advance. Enquiries may be sent via email to gts@hkengage.gov.hk.
