Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Prof Sun Dong today said there may be some flexibility for the age limit in the country's recruitment of payload specialists in Hong Kong.

Speaking to the media after attending a radio programme, Prof Sun noted that ultimately, the age of recruited personnel is the country's decision.

“Just now I spoke about the flexibility for the age. This time the country's requirement is that in principle the age should be from 30 to 45. That is why we said in terms of the age, we may have a little flexibility, but the final decision will be made by the country.”

He also believes Hong Kong can utilise the opportunity to enhance its development of the aerospace ecosystem including aerospace education, research and industry development.

“If we really have a good ecosystem, I am confident we will be able to attract a lot of experts from overseas to come to Hong Kong to develop their work.”

Responding to a question on the need for the LeaveHomeSafe mobile application, Prof Sun made it clear the app has been working successfully since its launch two years ago.

“So far, the LeaveHomeSafe app's red and amber codes system has played a very important role in fighting against the pandemic with precision. We have used the LeaveHomeSafe app system to support the Government's anti-pandemic policies very successfully, so currently we have no plan to cancel the LeaveHomeSafe app.”
