The Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES) today hosted the OASES Partnership Signing Ceremony to welcome a new batch of strategic enterprises to set up or expand their operations in Hong Kong.
At the ceremony witnessed by Financial Secretary Paul Chan, 17 strategic enterprises signed agreements to become strategic enterprise partners of the Government.
These enterprises come from industries such as life and health technology, artificial intelligence and data science, fintech, and advanced manufacturing and new energy technology. Most of them will establish global or regional headquarters in Hong Kong.
OASES noted that strategic enterprises, including approximately 50 firms that the office had previously attracted, will invest about $42 billion in total in the city over the coming years, creating over 17,000 jobs.
While speaking at the event, Mr Chan said that todayâs ceremony marks another step forward in realising the vision of Hong Kong becoming an international innovation and technology centre.
âOver 90% of the enterprises from our previous two batches have already commenced their operations in Hong Kong.
âNearly 70% of them have chosen to set up their operations at the Science Park or Cyberport, underlining the strong and ever-growing collaboration with our two major innovation flagships.â
The Financial Secretary also highlighted the policies of the Policy Address that will benefit the strategic enterprises, including increased investments in the I&T sector, advancement of the Northern Metropolis development, and enhancing collaboration with the cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
