The Innovation & Technology Commission (ITC) is inviting applications for the 2022 Guangdong-Hong Kong Technology Cooperation Funding Scheme until January 13, 2023.

There are three categories of projects under the scheme.

The first category covers projects funded by the Innovation & Technology Fund, while the second category involves those funded by relevant Mainland authorities.

The third category refers to projects jointly funded by the Guangdong and Hong Kong governments or the Shenzhen and Hong Kong governments.

Applications have to be submitted simultaneously by Hong Kong and Mainland institutions to the ITC and the relevant Mainland authorities respectively.

The ITC said there are 38 specific themes or topics in different technology areas under the third category this year.

Such areas align with the latest technology trends and industry needs of the two places and will encourage more diversified and quality research and development (R&D) projects for promoting economic development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, it added.

Launched in 2004, the scheme provides funding for applied R&D projects in Guangdong and Hong Kong. Shenzhen joined the scheme in 2005.
