The Government expressed its concern over the massive outage of Microsoft systems today and assigned Deputy Chief Secretary Cheuk Wing-hing to monitor the situation.

The Government said the operation of its systems remains normal and that no incident reports have been received from any departments in relation to their systems, including those on which critical infrastructure depends.

The Deputy Chief Secretary has asked government departments to keep relevant developments in view, and be prepared to respond promptly and to make immediate reports where necessary. He will give further instructions as needed.

As regards the airlines whose systems have been affected by the outage, Hong Kong International Airport has activated an emergency response system to minimise the impact on travellers.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, having communicated with Microsoft, urged the company to release solutions and provide support to affected users as soon as possible.
