Financial Secretary Paul Chan today met senior officers of the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) and attended a lunch event as he continued the Melbourne leg of his visit to Australia.

In the morning, Mr Chan met National Chief Executive Officer of the ACBC Tom Parker and President of the ACBC (Victoria) Rhys Roberts to discuss economic matters and business co-operation between Hong Kong and Australia.

He then attended a lunch event hosted by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office, Sydney, delivering a keynote speech to over 100 representatives from the political, business and innovation and technology sectors.

Mr Chan spoke about the latest developments in Hong Kong and about the opportunities it offers Australian businesses and enterprises.

Upon his arrival in Australia yesterday, Mr Chan attended a lunch to introduce about 50 representatives of Australia's wine trade to Hong Kong's advantages as a wine distribution and auction centre.

He invited more Australian wineries and merchants to utilise Hong Kong to access the larger Mainland China and regional markets.
