SUN DONG VISITS HAMBURG

Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Prof Sun Dong proceeded to Hamburg from Berlin on June 13 to visit a top-notch semiconductor company and call on the Chinese Consulate General.
 
Prof Sun visited Nexperia wafer fab and received a briefing on the company's latest development plan and technologies.
 
Nexperia B.V. is one of the world’s top-ten semiconductor companies with business around the globe and has research and development (R&D) facilities in Hong Kong’s Science Park. Prof Sun encouraged the company to proactively consider setting up and expanding businesses in Hong Kong. 
 
He added that he looks forward to having more world-leading technology enterprises, including companies focusing on R&D and the production of microelectronics, to set up or expand businesses in Hong Kong to boost the development of the technology industry and I&T ecosystem in the city.
 
Prof Sun then visited AI.Hamburg where he was briefed on the group's work to promote the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and bring together leading initiatives in AI to actively support the local economy and society.
 
The tech chief also called on the Chinese Consulate General in Hamburg, briefing Consular General Cong Wu on Hong Kong's efforts in integrating into the national I&T development.
 
He thanked the consulate general for supporting Hong Kong to enhance collaboration with Germany in I&T development and attracting enterprises and investment.
