Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Algernon Yau will depart for Tokyo tomorrow to forge closer economic and trade ties with Japan and deepen regional co-operation.
To achieve that goal, he plans to update the Japanese political and business sectors on Hong Kong's latest development.
As a result, the commerce chief will meet senior government officials and business leaders there to promote Hong Kong's business advantages and opportunities.
As part of his agenda, he will also officiate at a reception to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Tokyo.
Mr Yau will return to Hong Kong on June 21. During his absence, Under Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Bernard Chan will be Acting Secretary.
