The Government has strongly refuted reports that it banned an outdoor screening of a film in Hong Kong, saying the claims are totally unfounded and far from the facts.
The statement was made in response to media enquiries on an overseas media report today that alleged the Government had banned the film - which was previously screened in 2008 - from screening at an outdoor activity in the city next week.
A government spokesman pointed out that a statement issued by the event organiser clearly stated that it decided to make a change to the movie based on a recommendation by the Office for Film, Newspaper & Article Administration (OFNAA) that an outdoor screening was not appropriate due to the level of violence in the film.
The Government added that according to the usual practice, the OFNAA would not comment on the application of individual films.
