The delegation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and business sector representatives led by Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki concluded a three-day visit to the Mainland cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) today.
Mr Chan led the delegation from Dongguan to Huizhou in the morning, where they first visited the China-Korea (Huizhou) Industrial Park's startup area to understand more about the park's development in attracting and nurturing emerging industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing, new-generation information technology, and new energy and materials.
They then attended the Huizhou-Hong Kong Economic & Trade Cooperation Conference to learn about the latest developments of Huizhou.
Mr Chan said Hong Kong and Huizhou have close ties in terms of geographical proximity and social interactions, with Huizhou having a solid foundation in manufacturing, while Hong Kong has a well-developed service industry. Both can fully leverage their respective advantages to achieve mutual benefits, he added.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited BYD Automobile Industrial Park Phase II for a briefing by BYD Group representatives on their latest developments.
At the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone, the delegation found out about the management of its industrial cluster which is mainly supported by the new energy automobile industry and complemented by the new energy storage industry, material industry and intelligent manufacturing robotics industry.
The delegation arrived in Shenzhen in the early evening to attend the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Economic & Trade Cooperation Conference where they exchanged views on further promoting co-operation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
Mr Chan noted that Hong Kong and Shenzhen have a close relationship through continuous exchanges between people, as well as in economy and trade, and are dual engines of the GBA.
He added that Hong Kong will continue to take the initiative and gather strength to proactively participate in promoting the GBA's development.
Concluding the trip, Mr Chan said the visit has been the most rewarding for members of the delegation and laid down a more solid foundation for further promoting more effective co-operation between Hong Kong and other GBA cities.
