Chief Executive John Lee will lead a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government delegation on a visit to Beijing from September 19. On September 20, they will attend the opening ceremony of the 27th Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium and Beijing-Hong Kong Cooperation Promotion Conference.
During the visit, Mr Lee will also attend the signing ceremony of a co-operation agreement on new industrialisation between the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology and the Hong Kong SAR Government.
The theme of this yearâs symposium is the promotion of complementarity to achieve shared prosperity. An Invest Hong Kong-themed promotion event will be held for the first time, with keynote speeches and highlighted programmes focusing on Hong Kongâs unique advantages, business environment, and measures to facilitate co-operation between enterprises in Beijing and Hong Kong.
Mr Lee said the Hong Kong SAR Government will vigorously promote Hong Kongâs advantages and foster co-operation between Beijing and Hong Kong to attract more Mainland enterprises to leverage the city to access international markets, facilitate exchanges between enterprises from the two cities and inject greater impetus into both economies.
The Hong Kong SAR Government delegation will include Financial Secretary Paul Chan, Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Christopher Hui, Secretary for Transport & Logistics Lam Sai-hung, Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Prof Sun Dong and Director of the Chief Executiveâs Office Carol Yip.
Through an arrangement involving the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Invest Hong Kong and the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises, the Hong Kong SAR Government has also organised for a delegation of major local chambers of commerce, comprising prominent members from industrial and commercial enterprises, to attend the symposium.
Mr Lee will return to Hong Kong on September 21. During his absence, Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki will be Acting Chief Executive.
