Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Prof Sun Dong will depart for a visit to Shanghai and Suzhou today to strengthen Hong Kong's co-operation in innovation and technology (I&T) with such cities.
As part of his agenda, he will inspect the construction and development of science and technology parks in Shanghai and Suzhou, and visit local key scientific research institutes and facilities, accelerators, as well as a number of I&T enterprises there.
In addition to meeting leaders and experts of universities and high-tech enterprises, Prof Sun will pay courtesy calls on government leaders in the two places.
Furthermore, he will deliver a keynote speech at the innovative development exchange seminar and annual dinner organised by the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.
Prof Sun plans to return to Hong Kong on January 15. During his absence, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Lillian Cheong will be Acting Secretary.
